Background

The mixing process inside chemical and biological reactors directly determines product quality and conversion. Conventional sampling methods have limited spatial-temporal resolution and struggle to reveal the true flow and mass-transfer detail inside the reactor.

Measurement challenges

  • The reaction medium may contain corrosive solvents or high-viscosity material
  • The stirring process changes quickly, demanding high temporal resolution
  • The reactor structure is compact, so sensors need a customised on-site layout

Our solution

Choose ECT or ERT according to the conductivity of the medium; customise the electrode structure for the reactor geometry and port conditions, avoiding any disturbance to normal stirring. The system supports raw-data export for comparison and validation against CFD simulation results.

Results

  • Real-time observation of catalyst distribution, mixing uniformity and residence-time distribution
  • Helps optimise impeller type and rotation-speed parameters
  • Provides experimental data for the scale-up design of new reactors
